Hello to all the lovely readers who are partaking in the readathon over at the Sarah Says blog! When my sister told me that she was hosting a mini-readathon this summer, I immediately told her that I would like to host a mini challenge for her and giveaway one of my beaded bookmarks.
I made a special bookmark just for this event. I hope you like it! I took a copper disc and stamped it with the word "bookish" with a sweet little heart next to it. Then I strung it with brown and cream beads. There is 10" of black linen cord between the beads, so it will fit well in hard cover and paperback books. If you're interested in seeing more of the bookmarks I have for sale, please visit my Etsy Shop. I'd be happy to create a special bookmark just for you!My mini-challenge is a really simple one. Just leave a comment here and tell us what you're currently using as a bookmark (or bookmarks, if you're reading more than one book right now). In the past, I've been known to use post it notes, old receipts and even napkins (don't worry, they were clean!). Right now I'm using one of my beaded bookmarks - it has a sea turtle at the end. :)
Thank you for entering my mini challenge and enjoy your readathon!
I wish I could win! Hey sis, maybe you could make me one for Christmas this year? :-)
ReplyDeleteEr, in my copy of Middlesex, I'm currently using a raggedy library receipt from May. 'Cause that's how I roll.
ReplyDeleteI wish I was using a beautiful beaded bookmark! But in water for elephants at the moment I'm using an actual bookmark for once that I got from Jane Austen's house (it's pretty awesome), and in the East of Eden Letters Im using a train ticket, which is much more typical of me!
ReplyDeleteI was using with all these 3d type multi-color fishies all over it but I haven't seen that for a few weeks now.
ReplyDeleteFor hardcovers I use the book flap to mark my spot or (do not hate me) I dog ear. Old library receipts work too and sometimes a dollar bill.
I think your bookmark is lovely and I want to win really bad!
I generally just use a scrap of paper, but right now I have a coupon for free tokens at kid's game place in one book. In a different book I have a paper bookmark that says "I love books" in cute colors and design, and for some unknown reason someone wrote "eggs" on the back of it.
ReplyDeleteI have a set of Harry Potter bookmarks; I am using them for the readathon books.
ReplyDeleteYour beaded bookmark is lovely!
Love the bookmark Heather!
ReplyDeleteI am actually using a real bookmark. It has one of my favourite book quotes on it from Groucho Marx:
"Outside of a dog a book is man's best friend; inside of a dog it's too dark to read".

What a gorgeous bookmark! I've been thinking about starting to do some stamped jewelry and bookmarks as well, but since thinking is all I do in regards to that, I just faved your shop instead! :) I review a lot of books, so I always get lots of cool swag with them. Right now, I'm using a bookmark from Christy English's "To Be Queen" novel (really good if you like historical fiction that isn't too flowery).
ReplyDeleteA wonderful bookmark! I used to use scraps of paper, but now I use my own bookmarks I made form an old calendar - it had beautiful pictures of nature and animals and it was made of a thick paper, so I just cut the pictures out and sellotaped it all around to bulk them up and protect them.
